I had gotten to the area just after sunset, with no one around and the trial closed due to recent bear activity. Finally after an hour or so about 5 or 6 cars showed up and parked. I’m ecstatic, maybe there will be a big group and some professionals to hang out with while we shoot the stars. NOPE! They all leave about 20 minutes later and I’m all alone again.
Luckily the walk to the lake isn’t far from the car, but it is completely pitch black, silence all around except for the random times of rustling in the bushes. I’d quickly turn my headlamp on and literally say “Whaaaaaaaaat was that?!…” The night was spectacular and one of the most beautiful scenes I had even witnessed. It’s the most photographed mountains in all of Colorado; at this moment I had it all to myself!
